VOICES 16 Days of Activism Campaign
Voices has launched its local ‘16 Days of Activism’ campaign to highlight the issue of gender-based violence. The ‘16 Days’ run from 25 November, UN International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.
VOICES closing on 19 September
VOICES will be closed for one day on the Bank Holiday, Monday 19th September, as the whole country says farewell to our Queen, Elizabeth II. RIP. Please remember the National Domestic abuse 24 hours helpline (0808 2000247) and emergency services (999) are still available for anyone who feels in danger of immediate harm. VOICES Spring break
Voices will be closed in the first week of the school holidays, from 11th – 17th April 2022. We will reopen on 18th April 2022 but there will be no groups running during the second week of the holidays.
A German school’s initiative for safety in public spaces
A vocational school in Hennef, Germany marked the 40th anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism with an unusual and inspiring initiative. The institution is one among a national network of “Courage Schools”, and their campaign showed that combatting violence against women and girls is everybody’s business.
Women’s Aid Campaign: DeserveToBeHeard
Women’s Aid are asking decision makers to recognise how domestic abuse affects women’s mental health, and to fund and work with specialist domestic abuse services, to include resourcing for a range of therapeutic and holistic mental health support.
