My understanding of a safe space is one in which a person not only feels physical and emotionally safe, but one in which they can recover and grow. It needs to be a place of warmth, shelter, nourishment and compassion. No two people will have exactly the same requirements to feel safe, so the space has to be flexible enough to meet individual needs. The space needs to be one in which the individual can feel secure enough to explore who they are, what their needs and desires are; to challenge their own internal monologues and to realise their full potential
